Frequently asked questions
- How do I find a percentage of a number?
- Divide the percentage by 100 and multiply by the number. For example 15% of 2,400 is 0.15 × 2400 = 360.
- What is the formula for percentage change?
- Subtract the old value from the new value, divide by the old value, then multiply by 100. A positive answer is an increase, a negative answer is a decrease.
- Can I use this for discounts and GST?
- Yes. For a 20% discount, use the first calculator to find 20% of the price and subtract it. For 18% GST, find 18% of the base amount and add it.
